Spearfish Canyon

Located in the absolutely incredible Spearfish Canyon, this town takes its name from the Spearfish Cree, which cut out a 19-mile gorge over the years, filled with amazing trees and landscapes. This is simply one of the most beautiful areas in all of the United States. Take a cruise through the canyon whenever you want and soak in the flowing waterfalls, dramatic cliffs and abundant wildlife. Purchasing new construction homes in this area guarantees you’ll never have a poor view!

Downtown

Downtown Spearfish is home to many amazing shops, galleries and other historic places repurposed for tremendous consumer experience. The restored Matthews Opera House, for example, doubled as a shooting gallery and movie theater before it was restored as a live theater. There’s the Termesphere Gallery, in which artist Dick Termes created lifelike images on large spheres — you have to see it to believe it! Antiques and unique items to the Black Hills provide fun shopping opportunities and a chance to make your new home a Black Hills standout!

Historic Main Street

Littered with shops, signs and historical points of interest, downtown Deadwood is sort of like strolling through an Old West town — but without the threat of (real) gunslingers exchanging fire! Deadwood’s Main Street is far tamer than it was back in the Wild West, but there are still professional actors who recreate the beloved characters and significant moments in the town’s long history as a gold rush destination. If eating or shopping is more your style, fear not, Main Street has no shortage of options there as well!

George S. Mickelson Trail

Stretching for more than 100 miles to the north and south of Deadwood, the George S. Mickelson Trail is the perfect place for bikers, hikers and horseback riders to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Black Hills. It used to be a railroad line and passes through rock tunnels, over bridges and provides access to some of the most scenic areas of the Black Hills.

Tatanka: Story of The Bison

A truly unique feature not seen anywhere else, Tatanka: Story of The Bison exhibit is located at the north end of Deadwood and pays tribute to the millions of bison that once roamed the Great Plains and the culture that thrived on them. This was founded by famous actor Kevin Costner and displays bronze sculptures of a herd of bison being chased by Native American hunters on horseback at 125-percent scale.

Broken Boot Gold Mine

This was once a full-functional and productive gold mine, running from 1876 to 1904 and converted into a tourist attraction in 1954. The Broken Boot Gold Mine takes you underground to explore Deadwood’s gold rush history, with tours available every 30 minutes. Explore the ore car paths and see what conditions actual mine workers lived in during the gold rush era. Who knows, you might even score a little gold of your own to take back to your new home!
